🥮 Cake Layers (Poppy Seed Sponge)
Ingredients:
1 cup all-purpose flour
3 tbsp poppy seeds
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
4 large eggs (room temperature)
3/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup neutral oil (or melted butter)
1/4 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 8-inch (20 cm) cake pans.
In a bowl, whisk flour, poppy seeds, baking powder, and salt.
In a large bowl, beat eggs and sugar until thick and pale (about 5–7 minutes).
Fold in the oil, milk, and vanilla gently.
Fold in dry ingredients without deflating the batter.
Divide into pans and bake for 20–25 minutes. Cool completely.
