Poppy Seed and Cherry Cake Cherry Lady

Ingredients:

2 cups pitted cherries (fresh or frozen)

1/3 cup sugar

1 tbsp lemon juice

1 tbsp cornstarch + 1 tbsp water

Instructions:

Heat cherries, sugar, and lemon juice until bubbling.

Stir in cornstarch slurry; cook until thickened.

Cool completely.

🍦 Vanilla Cream (or Light Mascarpone Cream)
Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups heavy cream

1/2 cup mascarpone cheese

1/3 cup powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

Whip mascarpone, sugar, and vanilla briefly.

Slowly add cream and beat to soft peaks.

🎂 Assembly
Slice each cake layer in half (for 4 thin layers).

Alternate layers of cake, cherry compote, and cream.

Frost the outside lightly (semi-naked or fully covered).

Garnish with whole cherries, poppy seeds, or edible flowers for a “lady-like” finish.

📝 Optional Twist
Add a splash of cherry liqueur (e.g., Kirsch) to the cherry filling for depth.

Use almond extract in the sponge for a flavor bridge between poppy seeds and cherries.
