Stale bread – 6–8 slices (white, wholemeal, sourdough — whatever you have)
Cooked bacon – 4–6 strips, chopped
Grated cheese – 1 to 1½ cups (cheddar, gruyère, parmesan, or a mix)
Eggs – 4 large
Milk – 1½ cups (or use half milk, half cream for richness)
Fresh herbs – 2–3 tbsp (parsley, thyme, chives, or rosemary), finely chopped
Salt & pepper – to taste
Butter or olive oil – for greasing the dish
