Of course, I will be happy to share with you a recipe that allows you to make strawberry flavored “drops” at home. While the texture of the final result may not be exactly like the candy they buy at the store, the taste will certainly be delicious!
This recipe results in something more like strawberry jam or strawberry gummy candy that you can pour into molds to create a “drop” shape.
Homemade Strawberry Drops (Strawberry Jelly/Strawberry Gummy Candy)
Ingredients:
250 g fresh strawberries (cleaned and pitted)
100 g granulated sugar (or to taste)
50 ml of water
1 tablespoon lemon juice (preserves and helps to gel)
10 g gelatin powder or approx. 3-4 gelatin sheets (for gummy candies)
Optional: a few drops of red food coloring (for a prettier color)
Preparation:
Making strawberry puree:
Place the strawberries in a pan with the water.
Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for approx. 10-15 minutes until the strawberries soften and fall apart.
Pass through a fine sieve to remove the seeds and obtain a smooth puree.
Add sugar and cook:
Pour the strawberry puree back into the pan.
Add sugar and lemon juice.
Continue cooking over low heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Bring to a boil again, reduce heat and simmer for approx. Cook over low heat for 5 to 10 minutes until the puree thickens slightly. If you are using food coloring, add it now.
Adding gelatin (to gum):
