1 roll of puff pastry (prepared, preferably round or square)
2 apples (for example, Elstar or Granny Smith)
2 tablespoons sugar (optional, depending on the sweetness of your apples)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon butter (melted)
1 egg yolk (for brushing the edges of the pastry)
Powdered sugar (for finishing, optional)

Preheat oven:
Preheat your oven to 180°C (160°C fan-assisted).
Prepare the apples:
Peel the apples and cut them into small cubes. Remove the cores.
Place the apple pieces in a bowl and mix with the sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. This adds extra flavor and prevents the apples from turning brown.
Cutting the Puff Pastry:
Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into four square or round pieces, depending on the shape of your baking cups.
Make sure the puff pastry pieces are large enough to cover the bottom of your baking cups and slightly rise up at the edges.
