As the chill of winter approaches, what better way to prepare than by stocking your pantry with jars of homemade jam? Not only do these jams taste delicious, but they also bring warmth and sweetness to any winter morning. Here are five easy jam recipes that will make sure you don’t enter winter without your jam stash!
1. Classic Strawberry Jam
For this delightful strawberry jam, you’ll need:
4 cups of fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
1 cup of honey
Juice of 1 lemon
In a heavy bottom pot, combine all ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until the mixture thickens, stirring occasionally. Once it reaches the desired consistency, pour into sterilized jars and seal.
2. Zesty Orange Marmalade
Citrus lovers, this one’s for you:
4 oranges, peeled and sliced
1 lemon, peeled and sliced
Water
Honey (use half the weight of the prepared fruit)
Place the citrus fruits in a pot and add water just enough to cover them. Boil until the peels are tender. Measure the fruit and water mixture, then add honey in half the amount of the prepared fruit by weight. Boil until it sets when tested on a cold plate. Seal in jars.
