Preheat oven to 180 °C. Grease and flour a small baking sheet or round cake tin.
In a bowl, mix the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
In a second bowl, mix the wet ingredients: eggs, milk, oil and vanilla extract.
Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix well until a smooth dough is formed.
Pour the dough into the prepared pan.

Evenly distribute the pitted cherries over the dough.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-40 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the centre of the cake comes out clean.
After baking, let the cake cool in the tin.
You can dust with icing sugar before serving.
