Meatball Boats

Prepare the meatballs:
Mix all the ingredients for the meatballs well, form small balls (about the size of a walnut), and fry them in a pan with a little oil until cooked through. Alternatively, bake in the oven at 180°C for about 20 minutes.

Prepare the boats:
Cut the baguettes in half lengthwise and hollow out some of the insides (you can save the insides and use them for breadcrumbs, for example).

Filling:
Spread some tomato puree into the baguette halves. Place 3–4 meatballs in each, drizzle with tomato sauce, and sprinkle with grated cheese.

Bake:
Bake in the oven at 180–200°C (top/bottom heat) for about 10–15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and lightly browned.

Serve:
Sprinkle with fresh herbs and serve warm.

🔄 Variations:
Zucchini boats: Cut the zucchini in half lengthwise, hollow out the insides, cook briefly, and fill as above.

Vegetarian: Instead of ground meat, use lentil balls or plant-based ground meat alternatives.

Sweet potato boats: Top cooked sweet potato halves with meatballs and cheese – especially filling.
