In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
In a separate bowl, mix the milk, egg, and melted butter until well combined.
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until a dough forms.
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and roll each piece into a rope about 8 inches long.
Twist each rope into a spiral and pinch the ends to secure.
Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
Fry the dough twists in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per batch.
Remove the twists from the oil and drain on paper towels.
Warm the honey slightly in a small saucepan or microwave.
Drizzle the warm honey over the fried dough twists.
Serve warm and enjoy!
Variations & Tips
For a spiced twist, add a teaspoon of cinnamon or nutmeg to the dough. You can also experiment with different glazes, such as a maple or chocolate glaze, for a unique flavor. If you're feeling adventurous, try adding a sprinkle of sea salt over the honey glaze for a sweet and salty combination. To make the dough twists more festive, consider adding a dash of food coloring to the dough or glaze.
