Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two loaf pans with butter or non-stick spray.
In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and softened butter until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Stir in the mashed bananas, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, stirring until just combined.
Fold in the chopped walnuts.
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared loaf pans.
Bake in the preheated oven for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaves comes out clean.
Allow the loaves to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar if desired before slicing and serving.
Variations & Tips
For a healthier twist, you can substitute half of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour. If you have picky eaters who aren't fond of nuts, simply omit the walnuts or replace them with chocolate chips for a sweeter version. You can also add a teaspoon of cinnamon or nutmeg to the batter for a warm, spiced flavor. For those with dietary restrictions, try using a dairy-free milk alternative and a flax egg (1 tablespoon flaxseed meal mixed with 2.5 tablespoons water) in place of regular eggs.
