2. Form and Cook the Patties:
Divide beef into 4 equal balls (ΒΌ lb each), then flatten into thin patties.

Season both sides with salt & pepper.

Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.

Cook patties 2–3 minutes per side, pressing slightly to sear.

Add cheese to 2 patties per burger, stack one cheesy patty on top of the other to melt together.

3. Toast the Buns:
Lightly butter the buns and toast them on the skillet until golden brown.

4. Assemble the Burger:
Bottom bun

(Optional) Sauce or mayo

Double cheeseburger stack

Pile on the caramelized onions

Add pickles or greens if desired
