Ingredients Required
For approximately 12 crispy bars:
200g dark or milk chocolate (your preference)
120g peanut butter (smooth or chunky for more texture)
3 tablespoons maple syrup (or honey)
60g plain puffed rice (like Rice Krispies)
50g unsalted roasted peanuts (roughly chopped)
1 pinch of salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
A handful of chocolate chips or shavings for topping (optional)
Utensils Required
A heat-resistant mixing bowl
A silicone spatula
A saucepan for a double boiler (or microwave)
A rectangular baking pan (approximately 20 x 20 cm)
Baking paper
A wooden spoon or spatula for smoothing
Preparation Steps
1. Prepare The mold
Line the mold with parchment paper, leaving some excess overhang for easy removal.
2. Melt the ingredients
In a heatproof bowl, break the chocolate into pieces. Add the peanut butter and maple syrup.
Melt everything in a double boiler or in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each time, until the mixture is smooth and even.
3. Add the dry ingredients
Off the heat, add the vanilla extract, a pinch of salt, then stir in the puffed rice and chopped peanuts. Mix gently with a spatula until everything is well coated.
4. Pour into the mold
Transfer the mixture into the mold. Spread and press down well with the spatula to evenly distribute the surface. If desired, add chocolate chips or shavings on top for an extra treat.
5. Refrigerate
Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until firm.
6. Remove from the pan and cut into even bars using a sharp knife.
Tips and Variations
Vegan version: Use vegan chocolate, agave syrup instead of honey, and 100% natural peanut butter.
More crunch: Add pecan or almond pieces for an even richer texture.
