Easter Knot Cookies

1. Prepare Cookie Dough:
Cream butter and sugar together. Add the eggs, milk, anise, and vanilla. Mix well.

2. Add Dry Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, combine sifted flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture to form a dough.

3. Shape the Cookies:
Grease your cookie sheets. Roll dough into ½-inch thick logs and shape each into a knot. Place on prepared baking sheets.

4. Bake:
Bake in a preheated 400°F oven for 8 minutes. Let cool completely before icing.

5. Make the Icing:
Mix confectioners’ sugar and butter until smooth. Stir in anise extract. Gradually add milk until desired consistency is reached. Tint with pastel food coloring if desired.

6. Ice the Cookies:
Dip cooled cookies into the icing. Let them dry completely on a cooling rack.
