Step 1: Make the French Toast
Whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl.
Dip each slice of bread in the mixture for 10β15 seconds per side.
Cook on a buttered griddle or skillet over medium heat until golden brown on each side (2β3 minutes per side).
Keep warm in a 200Β°F (95Β°C) oven while you prepare the topping.
Step 2: Make the Bananas Foster Topping
In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
Stir in brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cook until the sugar dissolves and starts to bubble (about 2 minutes).
Add sliced bananas and cook for another 1β2 minutes.
Carefully add rum and vanilla (remove from heat first if using open flame), then cook 1β2 minutes more, until sauce thickens slightly.
Step 3: Assemble
Plate 2 slices of French toast per serving.
Spoon the warm banana-rum sauce generously over the top.
Optional: Add toasted nuts, powdered sugar, or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for full decadence.
