Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.
In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Mix well.
In a separate bowl, whisk together applesauce, sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and whisk until well blended. Avoid overmixing, as this can result in a denser loaf.
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly.
Bake for about 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Variations and Tips:
For a bread with more texture, stir 1/2 cup of chopped nuts (such as walnuts or pecans) or dried fruit (such as raisins or cranberries) into the batter. If you prefer a dairy-free version, replace the vegetable oil with coconut oil or a similar alternative. For a richer flavor, use brown sugar instead of granulated sugar. Finally, feel free to experiment with different spice combinations depending on your taste preferences.
