Homemade puff pastry palmiers are a delightful treat, and surprisingly easy to make, especially if you’re using store-bought puff pastry. Here’s a breakdown of how to create these classic, crispy cookies:
Ingredients:
1 sheet of store-bought puff pastry, thawed but still cold
Granulated sugar (plenty!)
Optional: Cinnamon, or other spices.
Instructions:
Prepare Your Work Surface:
Generously sprinkle granulated sugar onto a clean, flat work surface.
Prepare the Puff Pastry:
Unfold the puff pastry sheet onto the sugared surface.
Sprinkle more granulated sugar evenly over the top of the puff pastry. You want a good amount of sugar, as this is what will caramelize and create the palmier’s signature crispness.
If you would like to add cinnamon, or other spices, this is the time to sprinkle them over the sugared puff pastry.
