Ingredients: Serves 4
6 slices of stale country bread (or brioche, leftover sponge cake, etc.)
2 eggs + 1 egg yolk
100 ml of milk
2 sachets of vanilla sugar
1 tablespoon of caster sugar
1 knob of butter or 1 tablespoon of oil
Crack the eggs into a shallow dish and whisk as if making an omelet.
Gradually add the caster sugar, one sachet of vanilla sugar, and the milk. Cut slices of bread (or brioche) and soak them in the egg, sugar, and milk mixture. Allow the slices to absorb the liquid.
In a skillet, melt the butter and brown the bread slices on both sides.
Place the golden bread slices on paper towels.
Place in a serving dish and sprinkle with the remaining sachet of vanilla sugar.
