Baked potatoes: How to make them incredibly crispy

Potatoes, potatoes, potatoes... whatever you call them, we love them! The humble potato is one of the most versatile vegetables. You can boil them, bake them, or roast them, and they're always delicious. In this recipe, we take baked potatoes to the next level. These baked potatoes are made with butter, garlic, and Parmesan cheese, meaning they're packed with flavor. They're perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. And they're so easy to make! Because they're baked rather than fried, prep is less messy, and the batch size is easier to increase if you're cooking for a crowd. If you love carbs, you'll love this recipe!

Baked Potato Ingredients
Potatoes - Use starchy potatoes; they're easy to mash and have a better texture.
Butter - Salted or unsalted butter is fine (don't use margarine, or you'll lose the buttery flavor).
Garlic - Crush fresh garlic cloves.
Parmesan cheese – Use freshly grated Parmesan cheese (not the finely grated kind you find at the store).
Tips
To prevent sticking, line the baking sheet with parchment paper.
Make sure you use the right kind of potato. Yukon potatoes are the best potatoes for roasting. They're waxy enough to hold their shape when roasted, yet starchy enough to become silky and smooth inside.

Peeling the potatoes beforehand isn't necessary; they taste better with the skin on. Be sure to wash the potatoes with a vegetable brush before use to remove any sand and grit.
Feel free to experiment with other seasonings: Try smoked paprika, garlic powder, Cajun seasoning, or taco seasoning.
If you find the potatoes are browning too quickly, you can cover the baking sheet with aluminum foil.
What to Serve with Baked Potatoes
As an appetizer: Serve the crispy baked potatoes with your favorite dip, a spicy pesto sauce, romesco sauce, garlic aioli, sour cream, or hummus.
As a main course: Serve the baked potatoes with a main dish like roast beef or baked salmon. Add a fresh salad, and your dinner is complete!
How to Store Baked Potatoes
These baked potatoes are best when crispy. Leftovers can be refrigerated (in an airtight container) for up to 5 days. To reheat, heat them in the oven at 220°C (425°F) until piping hot throughout.
