And for good reason: whether in the form of an essential oil, an infusion or for external use, it is full of beneficial effects. Let's take a look.
1. Anti-infective
The fact that thyme is an important ally for health is due, among other things, to its anti-infective and antiseptic properties.
In a study, its use in the form of an essential oil showed a significant effect against 120 strains of bacteria in patients with infections of the oral cavity, respiratory tract and urinary tract.
To benefit from its beneficial effects, it is recommended to consume thyme in the form of herbal tea or simply sprinkle it on your dishes and salads.
2. Anti-inflammatory
Thyme has an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effect and owes its action to a phenolic compound: thymol.
According to researchers, it could relieve asthma by fighting the free radicals responsible for inflammation.
Pharmacologist Jean-Louis Brazier recommends inhaling thyme to cleanse the airways.
The best way is to boil water, pour it into a bowl and add 2 tablespoons of thyme. Then you have to tilt your head over the container, cover it with a towel and then breathe gently for a few minutes.
