Ingredient Preparation:
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
If using fresh pears, peel, core and thinly slice them.
Crust Preparation:
In a large bowl, whisk the eggs with the sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the melted butter and milk and mix well.
Add the flour, baking powder and pinch of salt. Mix until smooth and evenly combined.
Add the vanilla extract if desired.
Add the chocolate chips:
Add the chocolate chips to the batter and mix gently to distribute evenly.
Assembling the cake:
Pour the batter into a buttered and floured cake pan (or use parchment paper to make it easier to remove).
Arrange the pear slices on the dough in a circle or harmonious pattern. Press them lightly into the dough.
Cooking:
Bake the cake for about 35 to 40 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
If the top starts to brown too quickly, you can cover the cake with aluminum foil during cooking.
Finishing:
Let the cake cool slightly before removing it from the pan.
Serve warm or at room temperature for maximum indulgence.
Tips:
You can sprinkle the cake with icing sugar before serving for a decorative touch.
This cake goes perfectly with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a spoonful of whipped cream.
