1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
Chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Directions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top.
In a small bowl, mix together the barbecue sauce, honey, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
Pat the chicken drumsticks dry with paper towels and place them in a large bowl.
Pour the sauce mixture over the drumsticks, making sure each piece is well coated.
Arrange the drumsticks on the wire rack, making sure they are not touching.
Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, turning the drumsticks halfway through, until the chicken is cooked through and the skin is caramelized.
If desired, garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
Variations & Tips
For a spicier kick, add a teaspoon of cayenne pepper or a few dashes of hot sauce to the sauce mixture. If you're short on time, you can use a store-bought honey barbecue sauce instead of making your own. For a smoky flavor, try grilling the drumsticks instead of baking them. You can also use chicken thighs or wings if you prefer. To make this dish even more convenient, marinate the drumsticks in the sauce the night before and simply pop them in the oven when you're ready to cook.
