1. Simply mix the flour with the dry yeast. Then add salt, butter, sugar, egg and milk and use a dough hook to make a smooth dough.

2. Then leave to rise covered for 20 minutes. In the meantime, prepare the crumble.

To do this, cut the cold butter into pieces and then knead it into a ball with the other ingredients, quickly so that the dough doesn't start to stick.

3. Next, knead the risen yeast dough again with a little flour and beat it.

4. Now form a roll and shape 12 equal balls. Roll out each ball to a diameter of approx. 12 cm.

5. Place these circles on a baking tray. Then divide the streusel ball into 12 equal parts.

6. Now tear the streusel into small pieces and spread it on the yeast dough.

Preheat the oven.

Bake for 15 - 20 minutes at 180″C top/bottom heat or ISO 'C fan oven. The streusel should not turn brown.

7. After baking, take the streusel thalers out and let them cool on a wire rack.

8. Stir the sifted icing sugar with a little warm water until smooth, then spread it on the thalers with a brush and let it harden.

They taste best when fresh.
