Step 1: Make the peanut butter custard
In a large bowl, mix the peanut butter, cream cheese, icing sugar and vanilla extract together with a hand mixer until smooth. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff and gently fold into the peanut butter custard until well combined.
Step 2: Layer the trifle
Place a layer of ladyfingers in the bottom of a large trifle bowl or in glasses. Drizzle the ladyfingers with the milk so they are slightly moist. Spread a layer of the peanut butter cream evenly over the ladyfingers. Place a layer of banana slices on top. Repeat until all the ingredients are used up and finish with a layer of peanut butter cream.
Step 3: Chill and serve
Chill the trifle in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to set. Garnish with additional banana slices or peanuts before serving, if desired.
