1. Flatten each slice of sandwich bread with a rolling pin to make them very thin, which will make them easier to roll and give them a crispy texture after baking.
2. Place half a slice of ham on each flattened slice of bread. Then place a slice of cheese on top of the ham, making sure the cheese is in the center to prevent it from escaping during baking.
3. Roll each filled bread slice tightly into compact rolls. Press lightly to seal the edges so the cheese stays inside while cooking.
4. In a bowl, beat the egg with the milk. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
5. Heat the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Dip each roll into the beaten egg mixture, making sure to coat all sides.
6. Place the rolls in the hot skillet and brown on all sides for about 5 minutes until golden brown and perfectly crispy.
7. Remove the rolls from the skillet and place on paper towels to drain off excess fat. Serve immediately to enjoy the melted cheese inside.
