1. Preheat your oven to the temperature specified on the cinnamon roll can, usually around 350°F to 400°F.
2. Grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
3. Open the can of cinnamon rolls and separate the dough into individual rolls.
4. Unroll each cinnamon roll into a long strip of dough. If the dough tears, gently press it back together with your fingers.
5. Lay a turkey sausage link at one end of a strip of dough and roll it up snugly within the dough.
6. Place each wrapped sausage seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet, making sure they are not touching.
7. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and puffed up.
8. While the pigs in a blanket are baking, warm up the icing that came with the cinnamon rolls.
9. After removing the pigs in a blanket from the oven, let them cool for a minute or two, then drizzle with the icing while still warm.
10. Serve immediately and watch them disappear!
Variations & Tips
- If your family prefers a different type of meat, feel free to substitute the turkey sausage with chicken-apple sausage or even vegetarian sausage for a meatless alternative.
- For an extra hint of sweetness, sprinkle a thin layer of brown sugar on the dough before wrapping the sausage.
- Kids can be hands-on with this recipe! Let them help with rolling the sausages in the dough. It's a great way to get the little ones involved in the kitchen.
- These are best enjoyed fresh, but if you happen to have leftovers, you can reheat them in the microwave or oven until warmed through. Just keep in mind the icing will melt a bit upon reheating.
