1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
Oil for frying
1 small bowl of water for sealing wrappers
Directions
1. In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, chopped shrimp, garlic, green onions, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.
2. Take one wonton wrapper and place it on a clean surface. Keep the wrappers covered with a damp cloth to prevent them from drying out.
3. Place about a tablespoon of the filling in the center of each wrapper.
4. Dip your finger in the water and run it along the edges of the wrapper to moisten.
5. Fold the wrapper like a spring roll.
6. Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat to 350°F (175°C).
7. Fry the rolls in batches, without crowding them, until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
8. Serve hot with your choice of dipping sauce.
Variations & Tips
For those with dietary preferences or restrictions, you can easily substitute the shrimp for cooked chicken or make it vegetarian with finely chopped mushrooms and carrots. If someone in the family isn't keen on garlic or onions, just leave them out and add a bit more soy sauce for that extra flavor punch. To make this snack a bit healthier, consider baking the rolls at 400°F for about 10-15 minutes or until golden brown, instead of frying.
