Directions
1. Prepare the Strawberry Layer:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
In a saucepan, combine sliced strawberries, sugar, and cornstarch. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens (about 5–7 minutes).
Pour the strawberry mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
2. Make the Cake Batter:
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Add the melted butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and well combined.
3. Assemble and Bake:
Pour the cake batter over the strawberry layer, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
4. Cool and Flip:
Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
Place a serving tray or large plate over the pan and carefully flip the cake over to reveal the strawberry layer on top.
5. Serve:
Top with whipped cream if desired, and enjoy the sweet, fruity, and fluffy cake!
