Just 3 ingredients, but this dish tastes like it took hours to make! My grandma can’t stop asking for the recipe.

2 pounds of pork shoulder or pork butt, well seasoned
1 medium head of cabbage, roughly chopped
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
1. Chop the cabbage into coarse pieces, ensuring they're not too small so they hold up during the slow cooking process.
2. In the slow cooker, layer the cabbage at the bottom, creating a bed for the pork.
3. Place the seasoned pork shoulder or butt on top of the cabbage.
4. Sprinkle more salt and pepper evenly over the pork and cabbage. Pour in 1 can worth of water.
5. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or until the pork is tender and easily pulls apart with a fork.
6. Once done, shred the pork directly in the slow cooker, mixing it with the cabbage and resulting juices.
7. Serve warm and enjoy a slice of Midwest comfort.
Variations & Tips
For those looking to add a bit more flavor, try adding a chopped onion along with a few cloves of smashed garlic for extra depth. A splash of apple cider vinegar added towards the end of cooking gives a tangy note that contrasts beautifully with the richness of the pork. If you prefer a bit of spice, a pinch of red pepper flakes can add a delightful kick. For a more complete meal, consider adding diced potatoes, which will soak up all the wonderful flavors melded together in the slow cooker.
