In a large bowl, whisk the eggs with the sugar until the mixture whitens and becomes frothy.
Add the melted chocolate-butter mixture to the egg mixture and mix well.
Stir in the sifted flour, salt, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
If you want to add nuts or chocolate chips, gently fold them in at this point.
Baking:
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the surface with a spatula.
Bake for about 20 to 25 minutes. The brownies should be firm around the edges but still slightly soft in the center. A toothpick inserted in the center should come out with a few moist crumbs.
Let cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
Serving:
Serve the brownies as is, or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra touch of indulgence.
Tips:
Texture: For more fudgy brownies, reduce the baking time slightly. For more "cakey" brownies, add a little more flour and bake slightly longer.
Additions: Vary the pleasures by adding caramel bits, dried fruits, or even a swirl of peanut butter.
Storage: Brownies keep well in an airtight container at room temperature for a few days, or you can freeze them for a longer period.
