How to Make Fresh Mint Tea

Fresh mint tea is a soothing and refreshing beverage that’s as easy to make as it is delightful to drink. Whether you’re winding down after a long day or looking for a non-caffeinated pick-me-up, mint tea is a perfect choice. Here’s how you can brew your own fresh mint tea at home with just a few simple steps.

Ingredients:

A handful of fresh mint leaves (about 10-15 leaves, depending on your taste preference)
1-2 cups of water (adjust based on how strong you like your tea)
Optional: honey, lemon slice, or ginger for added flavor
Instructions:

Prepare the Mint Leaves:
Rinse the fresh mint leaves under cold water to remove any dirt or impurities.
Lightly bruise the mint leaves with your fingers or the back of a spoon to release the essential oils, which will enhance the flavor of your tea.
Boil Water:
Heat the water in a kettle or a pot on the stove until it reaches a rolling boil.
Steep the Mint:
Once the water is boiling, remove it from the heat.
Add the prepared mint leaves to the pot or a tea infuser if you are using one.
Pour the hot water over the mint leaves and cover the pot or cup. Let the mint leaves steep for about 5-7 minutes. The longer you steep, the stronger the flavor.
Add Flavors if Desired:
If you like your tea sweet, add a teaspoon of honey or adjust to taste.
A slice of lemon or a few slices of fresh ginger can be added with the mint leaves before pouring the hot water for an extra zing.
