Meatball Pizza

Ingredients
- Onion: 1 (medium sized / minced)
- Minced meat: 250 grams
- Olive oil: 1 tablespoon (light)
- Garlic: 2 cloves (crushed)
- Tomato sauce: 400 grams
- Hot pepper flakes: a handful (chili flakes)
- Sugar: a handful
- Mozzarella cheese: 250 grams
- Basil leaves: a handful (fresh)
- Pizza dough: 500 gr

How to prepare

2. Prepare the meatballs and sauce as follows: Using your hands, mix half the onion and all the meat, sprinkle salt and pepper (as desired), and continue mixing. Then, shape the mixture into small balls, and keep the latter in the refrigerator until frozen.

3. Heat half the oil in a frying pan over medium heat, and fry the meatballs in batches until brown on all sides.

4. Wipe the pan with kitchen paper, then pour the second half of the oil into it, and fry half the onion until it almost turns brown. Then add the garlic and cook for a minute. Then pour the sauce, and add the chili flakes and sugar. When this mixture boils, keep it covered and on low heat, for a period ranging between twenty and twenty-five minutes. Then add the meat to the pan, and leave the ingredients for twenty to thirty minutes.

5. Strain the sauce through a strainer with small holes in order to get rid of the excess water.

6. Preheat the oven to 230 degrees Celsius, and heat two trays inside it for fifteen minutes.

7. Sprinkle the semolina on the bottoms of the two warm baking trays. The two dough balls are spread out inside them, quickly coated with tomato sauce and the ingredients (meat and cheese), and baked for eight to ten minutes. They are served garnished with fresh basil.
