1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice, plus more for garnish
1/2 cup strong coffee or 2 shots of espresso
Whipped cream for topping (optional)
Directions
1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, whisk together milk, pumpkin puree, and sugar. Cook until hot but not boiling, stirring frequently.
2. Remove the saucepan from heat and whisk in the vanilla extract and pumpkin pie spice.
3. Pour the milk mixture into a blender and blend until frothy, about 15 seconds. Alternatively, you can use a handheld frother or vigorously whisk by hand.
4. Divide the hot coffee or espresso between two mugs.
5. Pour the frothy pumpkin milk mixture over the coffee or espresso in each mug.
6. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice, if desired.
Variations & Tips
For a dairy-free version, substitute milk with almond, soy, or oat milk. If you prefer a stronger pumpkin flavor, add a bit more pumpkin puree or sprinkle additional pumpkin pie spice on top. For a less sweet drink, reduce the amount of sugar or use a natural sweetener like honey or maple syrup. Spice preferences can vary, so feel free to adjust the amount of pumpkin pie spice to your liking or add a dash of extra cinnamon or nutmeg if desired.
