Divine! Love making these babies in the oven!

- 12 Hawaiian buns (you’ll want ‘em connected, sweetness)
- 1 lb ground beef (the higher-quality, the heartier your sliders)
- 6 strips of bacon, cooked until they're just the right amount of crispy and chopped
- 1 medium onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2 tbsp barbecue sauce (homemade or your favorite brand)
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted for brushing
- Sesame seeds for garnish (optional but adds a darling touch)
Directions
1. Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F and lightly greasing a baking dish just big enough to fit those snugly packed Hawaiian rolls.
2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat, toss in your diced onions, and cook 'em until they're soft and sweet, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and sauté for another minute until fragrant.
3. Crumble in the ground beef, breaking it up with your spoon. Cook until it's no longer pink, seasoning with salt and pepper. Stir in the barbecue and Worcestershire sauces, and let the mixture bubble gently until it thickens slightly.
4. While that’s simmering, slice those Hawaiian buns in half horizontally, so you end up with a bottom layer and a lid. Lay the bottom in the prepared dish.
5. Spoon the meat n’ onion mix evenly onto the bun bottoms, sprinkle the shredded cheese and bacon, then place the top half of the buns on.
6. Brush the melted butter over the buns, sprinkle with sesame seeds if you’re using, and cover the dish with foil. Bake in the oven for about 15-20 minutes until the cheese melts and the sliders are warmed through.
7. Let them sit a brief while before cutting into individual sliders.
Variations & Tips
- For a little extra zing, you could mix a dab of Dijon mustard in with your melted butter before brushing it on top of your buns.
- Veggie lovers can add a layer of thinly-sliced pickles or tomatoes under the cheese layer.
- Make sure to keep a good eye on your oven; you want these babies golden and crisp, not burnt.
Enjoy, my dears, and remember, each bite isn’t just a taste of comfort; it’s a chunk of history on a plate, a connection to the simple joys from days gone by.
