Ingredients:
300 g (2 cups) bread flour or wheat flour
1 n
Sugar 38 g (3 EL).
150 ml (0.62 cup) milk
3 g (1 tsp) instant yeast
3 g (1/2 teaspoon) salt
28 g (2 tablespoons) unsalted butter
Additional butter for greasing
Egg wash (1 egg beaten with a little water)
Preparation time:
Preparation time : 20 minutes
First rising : 1 hour
Second travel time : 30-45 minutes
Cooking time : 22 minutes
Total time : 2 hours 15-30 minutes
Instructions:
Prepare the dough :
In a large bowl, combine the bread flour, sugar, instant yeast, and salt.
In a separate bowl, lightly beat the egg and mix it with the milk.
Gradually add the liquid ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
Knead the dough :
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes.
Add the 28g of unsalted butter and continue kneading until the butter is fully incorporated and the dough is smooth again.
First ascent :
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean tea towel or cling film and leave to rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Form the dough :
Work the risen dough to release the air.
Shape the dough into a loaf and place in a greased 8.9″x4.4″x2.2″ (22.8×11.3×5.8 cm) pan.
Second climb :
Cover the dough again and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes, or until it has doubled in size and filled the pan.
Prepare for cooking :
Preheat the oven to 170°C (340°F).
For a shiny finish, brush the top of the bread with egg wash.
Baking the bread :
Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 22 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped.
