1/2 cup fruit preserves (strawberry, raspberry, or your choice)
Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Directions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, creating a top and bottom piece.
Arrange the bottom halves of the rolls in a baking dish, close together.
In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Add the egg and mix until well combined.
Spread a generous layer of the cream cheese mixture over the bottom halves of the rolls.
Dollop small amounts of fruit preserves over the cream cheese layer.
Place the top halves of the rolls back on top.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the cream cheese mixture is set.
Let cool slightly before serving.
Optionally, dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Variations & Tips
To customize your cheesecake danish, consider mixing in some lemon zest into the cream cheese mixture for a citrusy twist. For a more decadent version, you can add a layer of chocolate chips before adding the fruit preserves. If you prefer a different texture, try using crescent roll dough instead of Hawaiian rolls. Additionally, experimenting with different fruit preserves, such as apricot or blueberry, can keep this recipe fresh and interesting each time you make it.
